Melt / Furnace Supervisor - 2nd shift

Department: Administration
Location: Beaver Dam, WI

All melt department and ladle preparation personnel report to the Melt Supervisor. Melt Supervisor reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations.

$1,500 NEW HIRE BONUS AVAILABLE for new employees in good standing. $250 after 60 days, $500 after 6 months and $750 after 1 year of employment.

Primary Departmental and Supervisory Duties:

  • To supervise the melting and distribution of molten iron. 
  • Prepare molten iron in accordance to production schedule and quality specifications.
  • Coordinate the reline and repair of all iron pouring vessels.
  • Maintain adequate supply of consumable melt materials.
  • Ensure that all melt activities are OSHA compliant and maintain general safety control throughout the department.
  • Recommend department staffing levels (with work evenly distributed) and schedule work accordingly. This includes approving vacation time and other variable time off. Maintain attendance records within the bar code data collection system. 
  • Follow through and document appropriate discipline according to Company policies.
  • Provide training for new employees and work with HR and Operations to provide for the ongoing training needs of the melt department.
  • Issue work orders to maintenance department and respond as necessary to assure that all equipment is in proper working order.



  • Education: High School Diploma, HSED or GED, with at least 5 years foundry melt department experience and 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience: Prior work in related foundry melt department is required.
  • Ability to read, operate ERP system, Microsoft Office, perform necessary mathematical computations.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to perform practical supervisory communications.
